All hail the great men and women of fashion. Fashion is more than what you wear it's what you feel, it's how you greet people when they meet you for the first time, it's the kind of attention you command when you walk inside a room and it's the impression you make on the people around you. As a designer I want the people who wear my pieces to speak elegance, to exude class and to command respect. I introduce to you the Michelle dress. When I created this piece I had recently become a mother and a wife on top of my boss lady title. I needed something that I could be comfortable in, would be appropriate in and out of the office and still look like a million bucks. The typical day of a boss lady is characterized by meetings, and always being on the move so I wanted my client to experience elegance and sophistication in a comfortable way. A nice pair of pumps and colorful coat can add youth and style to this official look. You are now set to slay in the boardroom.

The fashion High Tea is an annual event hosted by the Zen garden with an aim at celebrating Haute Couture in Kenya. This year it happened on 25th February at the zen gardens and folks were looking smashing as usual. Before i share some of my favorite looks here is my honest opinion on where we are currently fashionably speaking. Being a young Kenyan designer, fashion enthusiast and appreciator of hard work and craftmanship i have a very strong opinion on the kenyan fashion scene today. We have alot to celebrate and sell to the world due to the fact that we are rich in culture but somehow we seem to have missed the mark. Though we have upcoming designers who are trying to push the boundaries and also have a strong point of view like the likes of Afrostreet Kollections, Fiona Kay, Co-Be just to mention a few, we have still been left miles behind by our brothers and sisters in countries like Nigeria and South Africa. Now, events like the Fashion High somehow bring this to light more clearly. With such a big platform to step out in some of the best pieces Kenya has to offer, the ones we consider best dressed are dressed in imports while the ones who do actually wear a made in kenya piece are just not that impressive. We have so much to offer when it comes to Kenyan fashion i believe its just up to the consumer to want it and be confident enough to rock it. Then we can really show our South African brothers and Nigerian sisters what we are truly made of. On to the ladies and gentlemen who stole the show. By: Elsie A O
On the 26th of February 2017, The 89th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took place and honored the best films of 2016. This took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
These award winning actors and actresses looked stunning in their couture gowns and bespoke suits matching their breathtaking talents. Here are some of our favorite looks. Menswear week has made it to Africa yeeeeeeey. The South Africa menswear week is the only one of its kind here in Africa taking place twice a year in Cape town South Africa. Its partnerships with some of heavy weights in the world of fashion has seen it create opportunities to some of the participating designers like showcasing in the London fashion week. We hope to be a part of that great establishment in the future. This year, the show went down at the Palms in Woodstock from 2nd February 2017 to 4th February 2016. I was personally excited to see the designs by one of my favorite designer, the amazing Mai Atafo. All the designers blew my mind away here are just but a few of my favorite looks: MAI ATAFO ABRANTIE THE GENTLEMAN ROSEY %VITTIRO Thats our daily dose of fashion.
By Elsie 2017 has started off on a manly tone and we love it. From the London fashion week to the milan fashion week designers have stepped up their games in the men's wear department. The pieces that have made it to the run way are not only well structured, simple and unique they are also the kinds of garments that make you feel like a man, "THE MAN". Balmain, Dolce and Gabana and Louis Vuitton have so far wowed the fashion out of us and we hope to see more. See below and see what i mean. Let me give you time to recover.
By: Elsie Omondi Happy new year good citizens of GLAMOURville we sure hope the festivities treated you well. 2017 has started of on a good note fashionably speaking, with the London fashion week men's wear which has already kicked of (details coming soon) to the highly anticipated pitti uomo to the just glamorously concluded GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS. Lets talk Golden Globe shall we. It took place on Sunday January 8th at the Bevery hills hotel in Beverly hills LA. The amazing Jimmy fallon hosted the star studded evening which had alot of amazing highlights (like the amazing legendary speech by Meryl Streep youtu.be/EV8tsnRFUZw ). The red carpet was decorated beautiflully with designer dresses and sleek tuxedo's not to mention millions of dollars in jewellery. Designers like Zuhair Murad, Prada, Gucci, Vera Wang, Altuzarra, Louis Vuitton among others made their marks on that evening. Enough chit chat let me share with you my top 5 looks: Though these looks were simply amazing and perfect for the individuals the others still broke a leg and put some fashion fight on. Feast your eyes on these stars and their star looks.
When i first saw Miss Aclyne Njiraini's blog my immediate thought was "wow this is so unique." Never before had i seen a blog that was dedicated to official wear. Her slogan "stay profashional" completely hooked me and i knew i had to do a collaboration with her. We met and her soul is just as beautiful as her outfit. I have a great vision of where i want this collabo to take us and how i want it to look like and she does too.
We did our first test shoot with a piece from my nature and style collection and it turned out amazing. Stay tuned for the big things we have coming for you. Find the necessary links below Outfit by: GLAMOURville Fashion Empire MUA: Mercy Bilha Photography: Emmanuel Thuo Model: Aclyn Njiraini The DIVAlicious Nairobi 2016 as presented by the Victoria commercial bank at the Vilarosa Kempinski was a spectacular high fashion indian themed event. Talk about sophistication, glamour, rich culture, expensive and unique, DIVAlicious Nairobi was all that and more. Set to be a 3 destination event, it will start with Nairobi then Dubai and south africa and boy were we blown away by the pieces showcased. some of the designers were: Payal Singhal, Satya Paul by Gauri Khan, Masaba, Muhoho Kenyatta, Babita Malkani, Sonaakshi Raaj, AM:PM, SVA, Valliyan, Surendri, Jamil Walji, Jaya Misra & so many more! Enough talk, lets just show you our favourite pieces
So the first line, though good, creative and skillfully done had a lot of mistakes. There was no concept, no symmetry and the pieces did not tie in together and also the way it was packaged and presented was not professional (you can clearly tell that the shoot was done by a 2mp phone camera). The next logical thing was to do a professional photo shoot adding more pieces with an actual model. so Faith Wanjiru joined the team and Greg of Compliment pictures helped create the masterpiece as seen below. Good job right!!!!!!!!!! well when you fall you rise up. Glamourville went a head to do their first two shows "nature and style 2015 and nairobi elegance affair 2016". The shows were such a success and ofcourse mistakes were made but thats the only way to get better. "GLAMOURville is a huge success already God is just taking his time to make it known and we trust Him. All i can say is that the sky is just but the stepping stone for us." says Elsie Omondi. CEO and Creative director of GLAMOURville Fashion Empire. for good pictures be sure to call Greg of compliment pictures. Kind, God fearing and very affordable photographer.
always stay glamorous. GLAMOURville, like any good business, has a story of its own. This story all begun in the mind of one miss Elsie Omondi over 5 years ago. "I have always loved fashion, i remember when i was in high school we used to hold "miss nembu" competitions annually and i was the go to person if you wanted cool outfits and if you wanted to win. I styled most of the models who participated and also some of the judges, thats where i got my nack for fashion" said Elsie as she explained how she discovered she had a thing for fashion. She however, never went to school to learn about fashion. She is a proud self taught designer and stylist. "I went to see a friend of mine called Guylord at his shop at umoja market. He specializes in jeans and as soon as i sat behind one of his machine i started to sew...it was a miracle .........." she said. she went ahead to teach fashion design at the Dulous school of excellence for 3 years until she finally decided to go and do her own thing. "anytime we would go to church people would always comment about my look, others would take pictures and others would even ask me to style them for an event or a date "i would think of a certain look for an event or just church and would decide to make it. Buying was very limiting because the pieces would not come exactly as i wanted them. so i started by making individual pieces...." she said. " Guess i first started by perfecting my styling skills" The response to Elsie's dressing became overwhelming that she eventually created an entire line for herself..... "it sounds self centered, i know, like who creates an entire line for themselves right? but i had to challenge myself. I had to be able to wear my own creation before i could convince anyone else to wear it. And i did well." Through the process of creating this line Elsie met Mr Daniel Kitaka who helped her create everything. " When i met Daniel i already knew how to sew but he introduced me to the BUSINESS of fashion. He taught me everything i know and my business stands because he took me under his wings. I thank God for him everyday and i still go to him for advice and approval." And with that complete line, she begun her journey to building an empire. Join me on the next post to see how the journey to the various fashion shows went on................ ALWAYS GLAMOUROUS.
